Level 3 Survey
Your firm recently carried out a survey for me at 3 xxxxxx, Wokingham. I wanted to double check if the Surveyor was able to inspect an outer wall of the house which is at the back and only accessible via a neighbouring property. I am intending to repoint the brickwork on the front of the house but I am not presently sure if the rear part of the house requires some remedial repointing, hence my enquiry. Many thanks
Your surveyor Mr Ben Smith has responded as follows:
There are areas of the rear wall which require repointing however this is less extensive than to the front elevation. Large areas of ivy have been removed from the rear wall leaving minor areas of repointing which are required where the ivy roots have caused damage. Note that as the building is Grade II Listed it may be the case the building will need to be repointed with lime mortar as opposed to a cement-based mortar. This will be more expensive as this will require a specialist contractor. It is advisable to make inquiries to the local planning officer as to whether this will be required and arrange for a specialist contractor to check the areas for a quotation. I hope this is helpful.
